Community Planning and Economic Development Standing Committee Presentation (video time code 27:11)

In May 2024, Treno Morton presented to the city's Community Planning and Economic Development Standing Committee with Houssam Elokda.

Treno reflects,

“It was a very liberating experience to be able to advocate on behalf of community at such a high level, and receive such positive feedback.

Presenting communities shared vision for what we believe the Cogswell Redevelopment could serve as. A real chance for the city and other levels of government to support this community-led initiative to begin to meaningfully address historical injustices, stop further displacement of the African Nova Scotian community, address the housing crisis, and also help us return to the status of homeowners & business owners.

For anyone who doesn’t know the story Africville or urban renewal that took place in Cogswell, I encourage you to watch the presentation to learn a bit more about why this work has been undertaken and so desperately needed. “
